2. Avatar: The Last Airbender

This nickelodeon children’s tv series is set in a fantasy world where certain people have the ability to control the elements around them. Water, Earth, Fire, Air. The titular character, Aang, is the last survivor of a genocide which wiped out his nation, but was in fact designed to eliminate him.
He is the Avatar, the connection between the spirit and the physical worlds, and as such he is the only person able to bend all four elements.

This show lasted three seasons, and it quite simply amazing.
Perhaps I’ve wrapped up my love for it with my love of Dave, but the artwork, the story and the characterisation of this series are all incredibly strong.
I’ve watched all three ‘books’ multiple times since I discovered it, and really think it’s as close to perfect as you can get.

I thoroughly recommend you watch avatar: the last airbender.
Not the M Night Shyamalan film though. Just no.

*as a corollary, I also recommend the follow up series, the legend of korra, of which I am impatiently awaiting book two.
